Tour Availability

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Players,

We need to get a head count of players who can make it on the Oregon tour. All Seniors and Juniors are invited; underclassmen have been spoken to specifically. We also need to know who needs to get a PITS duffle bag (it will be similar to the older smaller one and served to those who haven’t gotten one in the past).

I’m really excited to go, but how do I confirm my availability?

It’s simple you go to the link above that says “Players confirm Match/Tour Availability here” and go to the 2nd page (click on 2 or Next to get to the 2nd page) where the proper columns for tour and bag are located.

If you forgot your login info or were late registering, e-mail ask@pitsrugby.com for it.

More info:

One Click next to your name checks off that you’re available (or need a bag), 2nd Click X’s you out from the tour (or don’t need a bag), 3rd Click puts in a ? which means you’re not sure if you can go, which is also helpful to know.  You can go back and change the ? to a checkmark “yes” or an X “no”, but figure it out soon, because we need to know who is available to go.

(Anyone who puts ? for Need Bag sees Stan tomorrow for a concussion test.)

On the 1st Availability page, check off your status for the Hayward and Marin matches.  We have many injured and sick players and Marin is the first day of Spring Break, so we need to know who is available for these.

Congratulations

Good job boys on a win over De La Salle. Keep working hard and lets get a win over Hayward. Keep a good turnout at practice, I am looking forward to returning to a better more physical and conditioned team. Keep up the good work!

-Travis

(Editor’s note:  Travis posted this from England while on tour as a member of the USA Eagles Under-17 side.  They are competing against other national U-17 sides at a tournament in Millfield.  You can follow the Eagles tour on www.usarugby.org.  Click on National Teams in the left column, then on Boys U-17 and then U-17 Tour Digest to get daily reports on the tour and individual matches.  Good Luck, Travis!)

John Hege Memorial Service

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

johnhegephotoopdpatchOn Thursday March 26th, PITS will be meeting at the “vase” (across from the Wells Fargo) dressed in our embroidered jerseys and a nice clean pair of khaki slacks (no jeans) to attend the memorial service for Oakland Police Officer, John Hege.  John was a former PITS player actively involved in the Piedmont community.  Arrive promptly at 4:00 pm for distribution of the jerseys, the service begins at 5:00pm at the Community Center. It is important that all players show up to the service.

All parents are also invited to attend. Since John Hege was an Eagle Scout, players who belong to Boy Scouts may wear either uniform during the service.

Hope to see you all there,

Nick Zarbo

St. Mary’s again gives Cal its Toughest Test, but falls 5-20

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

stmaryspic1calrugbyphoto1The 3 best ways to learn Rugby are:

  1. 1. Play it
  2. 2. Learn it from great coaches
  3. 3. See great Rugby live

This Saturday’s match between undefeated St. Mary’s and undefeated Cal at St. Mary’s was the best collegiate rugby of 2009, until they meet in the US Collegiate playoffs, and probably in the championship game in May.

Many PITS players ventured the mere 20 minutes east to learn from the best of US collegians.  (Followed by a prudent late afternoon rest to prepare for their hard fought win over Diablo that Saturday evening, of course.)

Former St. Mary’s and Cal players among the PITS family also attended.
