Winter Break schedule

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Over Piedmont’s winter break we will not have official practices. However, we plan to have two touch games (right now scheduled for mon & tuesday) and daily workouts. Players should attend as much as possible if they are around. Workouts will be less concrete, but feel free to go down on your own or train with other players. It is important that we all stay in good shape over this week and don’t lose all the skills we have worked for.

PITS Volunteer Meeting, Mon Feb 23rd

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009
From Team Manager David Hanafee to all PITS Parents:
Now that we have the Sacramento Tournament behind us and we are still basking in its success, it’s time to pull everyone together to make sure that we have all of our ducks in a row before our regular season opener Saturday February 28th.  Although this is an away game and there is little incumbent upon us, I want to make sure that we are confident about the season ahead.

There has been a lot of progress in recent weeks and I wanted to go over some of that as well as get updates from folks in the various categories, including but not limited to:
Game Day Hospitality - who is signed up for each match
Field Preparation - who is signed up to help and what do we need to help
Fields - Update on Witter availability for home games and afternoon availability of other fields.  The notion of four afternoon practices as opposed to what we have now.
PR and Press.  Larry Kelley VERY dilligently captured detail from Sacramento, so we need to make sure he has what he needs for weekly Piedmont Post articles
Schedule - Varsity and Frosh/Soph updates
    Website Update
    Fundraising Activities
    Tour Options
Parties, Year End Banquet and trophies

We will meet at the Milne’s house at 225 Hillside on Monday February 23rd at 7pm.  I hope that that works for everyone.  Thanks for your participation and your support.  I look forward to seeing you all.

Regards

David

U. Cal vs. U. Calgary at Sacto Tournament: 6:30pm this Friday Feb 6

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

calrugbyphoto1The Kick-Off Tournament is a true West Coast Rugby festival, headlined  by the Friday 6:30pm match between perennial US collegiate champion Cal and the U of Calgary Dinos.  Last year Cal’s sole defeat was 15-22 to Calgary’s rival UBC, indicating that Friday’s match might be collegiate rugby’s best match south of the border this year.calgary_logo31

ucalgarydinos1A contingent of PITS fans is developing for the Cal/Calgary match, departing Friday afternoon (and therefore not at 0:dark:30 Saturday a.m.) to enjoy a civilized rugby overnight in the State’s crumbling capital.  Contact Rob Hendrickson if you are would like to join this expedition.
